Encore Celebrates 50 Years of Peace

Did you know the peace sign turned 50 last year?

That's right- along with the iconic artists of the '60s and '70s, we'll be celebrating the 50 year birthday of this iconic symbol. 

And...in case you're a history buff, you'll be interested to know that the symbol was designed and completed February 21, 1958 by Gerald Holtom, a British designer and artist, for the April 4th march planned by the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War (DAC) from Trafalgar Square, London to the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermason in England. It was originally used by the DAC and was adopted as its badge by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) in Britain.

If you're not a history buff, the symbol probably just reminds you of the groovy times you had back in the day.
